That's good to know for future reference. Unfortunately, that wasn't
the whole problem. It kept choking on the restore anyway, so even with
the root problem solved I still would have had to reinstall most
everything by hand anyway. Doing it all from scratch was a PITA, but
maybe my system is a little cleaner now. I left off a bunch of stuff
that I really wasn't using and didn't need.
