To fix bugs they need to be reproduced. In maemo bugzilla there are two bugs on crawler. The one about it going berzerk on symlinks in MyDocs folder is a known regression: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1842 Workaround until the fix is delivered is easy. Don't create symlinks (you cannot create them from the device UI[1], so it's not really a normal device use-case). Another bug is this where people state that they don't have a symlink: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1842 The cause is unknown because people haven't provided the requested information.
