I'm currently trying to download a SSH client server app, 'Dropbear', I've tried downloading the .deb file from Dropbear site tried to install to no avail, then tried downloading .tar.gz file same thing - what am I doing wrong????

I used dropbear at first. It worked fine. Eventually, I dropped it in favor of openssh. It should be available in your application menu if you enable the 'Extras' repository. (Thanks Eero)

In general, .debs ought to install if you choose 'open' when clicking on the link. Most of the programs available on https://garage.maemo.org install without too much trouble.

Before you get too far along with the customization and program-installation process, I would update your 800 to the latest firmware.

have fun,
K
