Some hubs will inject power into the socket that you normally plug into your
computer (the square shaped one). If you get a female-to-female converter,
you can use standard cables (the one that came with your 770 plus the one
that you would normally ue to plug the hub into the computer) and a powered
hub to do what you want without soldering. I have done so in the past. I
would imagine that this doesn't work with all powered hubs. The only way I
discovered that my hub back-feeds power was that it kept the fan running on
my graphics card even when my system was powered off and unplugged!

I give no guarantees as to how healthy this is for your hub or 770 though.

I will try to give your modified instructions a spin when I get a chance.
Thanks for updating them.

/Mike
