It might be that nokia intentionally left connecting the host connection to the usb port. Mainly to reserve battery, the battery it has is only 3.7V so to pump that to 5V would consume the power more and it would generate heat. So to not connect the host connection in my opinion. Was a wise decision. You need to remember, this device needs to be affordable to manufacture and affordable to the users. Not something that has everything, if it would be so, the price tag would be something more like 500e and not 350e.
