[maemo-users] 802.11g Connection

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I got my 770 three days ago and I have difficulty getting my WiFi connection
to work correctly when using 802.11g or 802.11b/g. Everything works fine
with routers set to 802.11b only.

I hope there is someone that could tell me how to correct this. I have
supplied as much information as I could find.

Let me tell what I have tried.

Test environment:
* Nokia 770 (3.2005.51-13)
* Router - Linksys WRT54GSV4

When I set the router to 802.11b only my connection works fine. When I
switch the router to 802.11g only or 802.11b/g I can not get a connection
from the 770.

At first I thought that it was the router (even though my laptop works with
the router under all settings). I tried the same thing with a Netgear router
and experienced the same problem when the router was set to g or b/g. I also
tried connecting to other routers at various hot-spots, the connection only
works with routers set to b only. Most places where I want to use the
connection have their routers set to g or b/g so it is important for me to
get this working.

I also tried to disable security on the router but it did not help.

This is what happens when I try to connect to a router that is set to b/g
(mixed mode):

* The router is identified, the SID is shown and the signal is strong (I sat
close to the router).
* I select the router and the W flashes for a few seconds and then shows it
is connected.
* When I look at the IP assigned I see that it did not connect
(169.254.178.242 default router 0.0.0.0).

Here is the dmesg output when I try to connect to the router in mixed mode:
[  601.337280] Loading 3825.arm firmware
