yes, RD mode with serial console on prevents the Omap processor from
going into deep sleep mode. However RD mode itself should be sleep
friendly.

However there are 2 different capacities: 1300mAh (those shipping with
the first communicators, like mine, I don't konow about latest units)
and 1500mAh, which is the one shipped with 770 and used for
benchmarking.

And the measurements done actually exceed the promised 7 days.

I would suggest to:
-disable RD mode
-load a new fully charged battery
-flash the latest version of the fw
-close all the applets that are visible on the screen after boot
-let the device alone for several days, checking once or twice per day
if it's still alive

That should yeld at least 7 days.
