I tried an BIOS update to the latest version 3503.
However, that did not change the reported fan speed.
It still jumps often up to 675000 RPM.
I only see the possibility to tweak the driver,
so that unrealistic values are being rejected.
However, that would be a dirty hack and does not solve
the root cause.
Hardware monitoring of the Asus boards seems to be badly
supported by their BIOS :-)
We decided not to monitor the FAN2 value anymore as
monitoring invalid values makes no sense and a faild
chassis fan does not instantly break the system.
Not the best solution, but one that does not blow
my time quota.

This just happens on one node. On the other nodes the measured
values seem to be stable.
