Interesting update. WD claims that, based on the serial number of the MyBook here, the USB3/SATA bridge is not a JMicron device. I'm still convinced the failure is a crash or hang at the remote side of the USB3 link. Possibly the SATA controller on the WD drive is losing its marbles due to some behavior unique to certain USB3 bridges. All demonstrated failure scenarios include WD drives of varying models including an old 150GB Raptor. Suggested as much to WD and asked them to identify the controller chip. Not in the mood to crack the case and void the warranty on the unit here. Another possibility is a bug in an embedded 8051 SDK common to different bridge controllers. Noticed that a great deal of open-source 8051 code is available and this improves the odds of a bug common to multiple devices. -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-usb" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
