Ben: It looks like this bug may have been fixed (see the attachment to comment #31). Can you prepare a kernel for other Debian users to try out? Not necessarily just people with NVIDIA hardware, because the new patch will affect all PCI-based OHCI controllers. Adding that patch got rid of the remaining failure messages that I was allowing through and seems to have solved the problem.
