I wanted to be sure the device itself was not the problem, so I had to
made a complete microsoft xp setup with access to a minipci-express
interface and spent some time upgrading the firmware and bootlader of
the device to:

> Manufacturer's Revision: G:/WS/FW/H2_0_8_19MCAP/MSM6280/SRC 2008/08/29 18:28:52

I plugged the minipci-express usb modem back in the ALIX.6E2
motherboard, and it is working as expected! I am unable to reproduce
the usb enumeration errors.

Problem solved :)

Kind regards,

Jelle
