Hi Alan,
After a bit more testing, I've found that
24c0996a6b73e2554104961afcc8659534503e0d
is the commit that git bisect discovers.
Following your advice, I also tested 2.6.29-rc7, and the same timeout issue
occurs there.
I've found that if I force btool to call libusb's usb_set_configuration()
even when it is not necessary, then this fixes the timeout. The problem is
that for Blackberry devices, usb_storage also makes use of the device, so
if usb_storage is active, then usb_set_configuration() will fail. Due to
this conflict, I had coded Barry so that it only sets the config if it isn't
already set to what we need.
So I need to rmmod usb_storage before btool will work with this fix. Removing
usb_storage without also adding usb_set_configuration() to btool does not
fix the timeout. Usb_storage is just a bystander getting in the way.
I've included the lsusb -v output for my Blackberry test device below
in case it helps to see it's config layout.
