But actually that's just what I was reporting initially ("USB 3.0 is
practically unusable on my system", "owever,
since kernel-space devices also have problems (like RS232 converters) on
USB 3.0 ports [...]"). Steve only thought that his problem was related,
unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case :-(

I probably should have been clearer about the problem, though. So what
information would be helpful in my case (no USB 3.0 ports working at all
under Linux, but all work perfectly with Windows)?
