I have translated the speakup tables as far as possible in Afrikaans. Where can I email it to so that it can be included officially?
I could not find places for some things though.
From memmory, rate and pitch could not be translated, so when using
speakup-5/6, it will stillo speak the English word using the Afrikaans voice.

Specifically it says the word string 'capital' before each uppercase
character.

I didn't realize it was doing that. Is that the only inconvenience?
Could you try to replace "tts:char" with "characters"? It seems to
avoid saying "Capital", I can reupload with that instead.

My guess is to get correct pronunciation of individual characters in
various languages.

Yes, that's it.

If so, then that is why I set-up the character array so that
characters could not only be spoken correctly but could be spoken as
the end user wishes.

But then this has to get contributed to, and this hasn't happened in
speakup, while it has very largely happened in espeak. ATM, spelling is
horrible for non-english languages since it'll speak the english words
with the non-english language.
