I didn't realize it was doing that. Is that the only inconvenience?
Could you try to replace "tts:char" with "characters"?  It seems to
avoid saying "Capital", I can reupload with that instead.

Yes, that's it.

But then this has to get contributed to, and this hasn't happened in
speakup, while it has very largely happened in espeak.  ATM, spelling is
horrible for non-english languages since it'll speak the english words
with the non-english language.
