I've compiled a 2.6.22 kernel but I'm not getting speech. # cd /usr/src # git-clone http://linux-speakup.org/speakup.git # cd speakup # ./install This gives me a 'speakup console speech' item on the device drivers menu. And I can configure drivers for different synths. Compiling goes fine. After booting the new kernel, there is a /proc/speakup directory. However, there is no /proc/speakup/synth_name file. Trying to create the file gives an error: #echo ltlk > /proc/speakup/synth_name -bash: /proc/speakup/synth_name: No such file or directory
