Then, you move to the other end of the block of text, and use ctrl+w to cut it, meta+w to copy it, and ctrl+y to paste, or "yank" it. Before you can yank, you have to copy or cut text first of course. If you're going to use emacs, you should be aware that it has a steep learning curve. Also, I'd highly recommend going through the emacs tutorial. You should see a line I believe at the top, or maybe it's at the bottom of your screen, telling you how to invoke it. Hth.
