-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Thanks very much. I thought I had seen somewhere that Speakup was in the Edgy kernel, but I thought I was remembering something wrong when speechd-up installed a package called kernel-patch-speakup. I'm guessing it was just a recommend rather than a dependency since I used aptitude and it sometimes likes to install recommends. Well, sudo modprobe speakup_sftsyn gave me no trouble at all, so I won't need to rebuild the kernel. It's great to have a distro that makes everything so easy and still lets me do the down and dirty stuff too if I want. It looks like Ubuntu will be going on my tower also now that I have found out how easy it is to use. Debian with a generous helping of frosting. Sweet! Thank you Ubuntu!
