-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 What I do is to export the EDITOR and VISUAL variables in my $HOME/.bash_profile like so: export VISUAL=/usr/bin/emacs export EDITOR=/usr/bin/emacs . This makes emacs be my default editor for mutt, and everything else. Since you want to use nano, your lines would obviously look different, but the above should give you an idea of what you need to do. Remember that any changes to .bash_profile will not take effect until you logout, and login again, or just doing source .bash_profile should also work without logging out and in. Hth.
