USB keyboard problem

On January 27 the following note appeared describing a modification to 
speakup in the CVS archive that might just solve the USB keyboard 
problem that has been discussed here. The comment was as  follows:

"Also speakup_quiet=1 or true or yes to allow speakup
to boot as if you held the shutup key for autobooting
and will start talking only when a key is touched."

So check the date of your speakup version. If it is later than Jan 27, 
you should be able to add that parameter to your lilo append statement, 
or to your grub boot= option.
