patching a 2.6.13 kernel on a 64 bit system.

Hello,

I'm having problems getting speakup running on this machine. I've recently upgraded to a 64 bit laptop running SuSE 9.3. I was able to get speakup running on a Laptop with a pentium M processor and a Desktop with a Pentium 4 3 GHZ with HT processor but this one really doesn't like me.

I've downloaded the 2.6.13 kernel from www.kernel.org and when I try to patch speakup into it I get errors about a missing file. However, Entries to speakup are still found where their suppose to be. During make I get more error messages. A friend tells me that this is most likely because speakup hasn't been developed for a 64 bit system but I find that hard to believe.

Can someone help? I need to get this machine up and running as soon as possible as I use it as for testing and without it I am absolutely lost.

Thanks

Darragh
