Hi, Installing it from windows is fine. It really does not matter if the driver gets installed infact it will not because it uses autoexic.bat and xp does not use this to load tsr programs. You just need to make sure the files are on your drive so you can update the fermware. See your users guide for the dectalk express for directions on how to do this. Subject: Re: DECTalk Express Firmware Hi. I don't know if this is a stupid or an irrelevant question, but I am running xp and the nearest thing to dos i have got is the command prompt. Can i install it using the command prompt then? I actually installed it with the install.exe file from windows, and although it said that dectalk had been installed, i still can't determine if the driver itself has been installed or not. Choose not to have the autoexec.bat or config.sys updated. Then go into a dos window and run the update from there. Read the manual/readme for instructions. Thanks. I do not understand how to install it. Am I correct that it is firmware and installs onto the actual DECTalk unit? If this is the case, how does one install it to the unit? I unzipped the package and see stuff about installing onto the computer but not to the unit.
