There is no confusion. It is just that Fedora has decided to change what they are including in their naming structure. In other words, Fedora's 2.6.11-* is substantively the same as a 2.6.12 (which is not yet released in any case). No one is attempting to patch Speakup into anything but the shipping FC4 kernel.
