Speakup Modified Fedora 4 Will Be Delayed

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

There is no confusion.
It is just that Fedora has decided to change what they are including in
their naming structure. If anything, Fedora has changed the structure.
2.6.11 is 2.6.11 and not 2.6.12 and if you decide to make the kernel to be a
2.6.12 kernel then name it appropriately.

I think your confusion comes from lack of familiarity with Fedora's
kernel numbering practices. It is true that FC4 ships with a kernel
numbered 2.6.11-*. However, that kernel includes many, if indeed not
most, of the patches that distinguish a 2.6.11 kernel from a 2.6.12
kernel. In other words, Fedora's 2.6.11-* is substantively the same as a
2.6.12 (which is not yet released in any case).

No one is attempting to patch Speakup into anything but the shipping FC4
kernel.
