System rescue cd actually does detect pci sound cards. It does however
use the 2.4.x kernel still. I have talked to Francois in the past
about setting system rescue cd up to use software speech off the cd,
but he himself didn't know how to go about it, and my to do list is
much larger then I'd like for it to be. I haven't yet gotten around to
setting up speech dispatcher and speeched up on any of my machines, let
alone getting it to work on a live cd.
