This is IMHO easier than hand editing because you can choose the help link by each config file option and see what it does rather than keeping the smb.conf man page open in another terminal. To get swat working you need the following line in /etc/services swat 901/tcp # swat And you will also need the following in /etc/inetd.conf swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/swat Do a "killall -HUP inetd" and then you can use your favorite web browser to configure samba by connecting to http://localhost:901. Getting samba working might not quite be a piece of cake, but it is easier than getting windows boxen to talk to each other.
