greg, you might want to look at simple ssh tunneling to start with I've found it prety effective for ip spoofing. which for all intents and purposes is what you're doing you use ssh as a socks4 server and off you go. encrypted ssh tunnel and nobody's any the wiser. however it might not suit your needs but give it a thought anyway -- A doctor, an architect, and a computer scientist were arguing about whose profession was the oldest.
