hello again i've tried reading the howto at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.3-Manual/custom-guide/s1-kernel-perform-upgrade.html with no success. note that link will bring you about three pages into the howto but that's where I got the commands rpm -uvh kernal name where kernel name was the file name. I'm getting an error about a bad tag or something.
