And using make menuconfig I get a new item Console drivers -> [ ] Speakup console speech (NEW) So I agree ... this should be in the official source. This is the config for the kernel build ... not sure I understand what you mean ... this tells the kernel compile to include speakup or not ... in the kernel. -- Doug
