Hi Liz, Win ME coexists with Linux just fine. The lack of a DOS mode has no bearing on it. I ran WinMe and Linux Dual-boot about a year ago with no problem. I set it up with Lilo on the Linux boot prtition (not the mbr). Could it be that you have installed lilo/Linux properly (Lilo on the Linux partition) and forgot to make the Linux partition active? Use fdisk to chek which is your active partition. If the WinMe partition is the active one, then the boot process continues oblivious to the existence of Lilo/Linux. It's a simple thing to overlook, but would produce the results you've described.
