no such device seems to indicate that the oss
compatability stuff isn't being loaded. I t hink 
that the oss stuff is separate in the 0.9.x drivers but am not sure, make sure
you have aliases for the oss stuff and check /var/log/syslog
or /var/log/messages for modprobe errors etc.
