I just had to get one in there.  Actually, I've never had any problem
installing it on a whole number of machines, alphas and intel-similar
hardware.  Also, the package manager is wonderful (dpkg) and apt-get is
even more excellent.  I've also used Redhat as well,; it really does depend
(I guess) what school you come from...
