Hi, Keith you need a 2.4 kernel to use Speakup 1.0.0. I'd suggest something like 2.4.13 for starts. An alternate suggestion is to download Slackware 8, and get Slackware with Speakup built in already. ----- Original Message ----- From: Keith Creasy <keith@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <speakup at braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2001 10:55 AM Subject: New Installation of Speakup 1.00 > Greetings! > > I've been out of the loop with speakup and linux for a while and I'm now > trying to get things set up again. > > I'm using Slackware 7.1, which uses the Linux kernel 2.2.16. > > I recall that the first time I did all of this I could never get Speakup > to properly patch and allow me to configure Linux 2.2.16 so that I could > make adjustments to the doubletalk's speech.
