regresion: megraid_mbox panic, boot log from serial console

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

There seems to be some trouble with messages from bugzilla bug #11194
not being sent to the list, so I am reiterating here.

I have a Dell PERC3/DCL which is basically an AMI MegaRAID Elite 1600.
It uses the megaraid_mbox driver. I am running Debian lenny, but when
2.6.25 hit testing I discovered that lenny won't work with my computer
(unless I revert to 2.6.24) because the kernel panics during boot. If
I had to reinstall today I'd be screwed because there is no lenny
kernel that works with my hardware (.24 is no longer in lenny).

Anyway, I thought the panic was occurring during part of the st driver
initialization, but, as you will see from the attached logs, it looks
like the problem is more basic. It looks like the megaraid_mbox
driver is crapping out when and ext3 filesystem is trying to be mounted
(on encrypted lvm on the megaraid).

I have been able to use a null modem cable and serial console on my
firewall/proxy to capture the boot messages from 2.6.26 (which has the
same problem as 2.6.25) as megaraid-panic.log and the boot messages
from 2.6.24 (which works) as megaraid-good.log.

I have attached those logs. Please CC me as I am not subscribed to the
list. Also I'd like to know if anyone is working on the megaraid
drivers these days, and if the kernel in lenny will have the fix (when
it happens).

Regards,

Daniel

And that's my crabbing done for the day. Got it out of the way early,
now I have the rest of the afternoon to sniff fragrant tea-roses or
