   you r right, the TOS are different, the first entry has a TOS of 
   10, & when I ping the linux Mc, another entry is made in the 
   rtable, with a TOS of 0.
   The new entry disappers after some time (may be timed out) but the 
   first entry is persistant, what does this mean ? i didn't really 
   understand the significance :-(
   
Routing table entires installed are merely templates for routing cache
entries.  The routing table entries you have say "any TOS" but when a
rtcache entry is made for that, the rtcache entry has a specific TOS
from the IPV4 header of the packet being sent/received.
