Hi all, We are using IPX to access novell filesystems and printer queues. However, recently we switched from kernel 2.2.18 to 2.4.1 and suddenly we got angry E-mail from IT people saying that our machines were forwarding IPX broadcasts. Our kernel configuration for 2.4.1 looks the same as for 2.2.18 and now that we've booted the 'old' kernel the problem has vanished. Still, we would like to run 2.4.1 with IPX. We do have CONFIG_IP_ADVANCED_ROUTER set, but that was also the case with the old kernel and I prefer not to try out if that is the problem (shouldn't be, since IP and IPX are seperate layers). Anyone have ideas? Our network settings for 2.4.1 are: # # Networking options # CONFIG_PACKET=y # CONFIG_PACKET_MMAP is not set CONFIG_NETLINK=y CONFIG_RTNETLINK=y CONFIG_NETLINK_DEV=y # CONFIG_NETFILTER is not set # CONFIG_FILTER is not set CONFIG_UNIX=y CONFIG_INET=y # CONFIG_IP_MULTICAST is not set CONFIG_IP_ADVANCED_ROUTER=y CONFIG_RTNETLINK=y CONFIG_NETLINK=y # CONFIG_IP_MULTIPLE_TABLES is not set # CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH is not set # CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_TOS is not set # CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_VERBOSE is not set # CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_LARGE_TABLES is not set # CONFIG_IP_PNP is not set # CONFIG_NET_IPIP is not set # CONFIG_NET_IPGRE is not set # CONFIG_ARPD is not set # CONFIG_INET_ECN is not set # CONFIG_SYN_COOKIES is not set # CONFIG_IPV6 is not set # CONFIG_KHTTPD is not set # CONFIG_ATM is not set # # # CONFIG_IPX=y CONFIG_IPX_INTERN=y # CONFIG_ATALK is not set # CONFIG_DECNET is not set # CONFIG_BRIDGE is not set # CONFIG_X25 is not set # CONFIG_LAPB is not set # CONFIG_LLC is not set # CONFIG_NET_DIVERT is not set # CONFIG_ECONET is not set # CONFIG_WAN_ROUTER is not set # CONFIG_NET_FASTROUTE is not set # CONFIG_NET_HW_FLOWCONTROL is not set Our ipx.conf looks like: # this attempts auto-configuration IPX_AUTO_PRIMARY=off IPX_AUTO_INTERFACE=off IPX_CONFIGURED=yes # for manual configuration, set IPX_CONFIGURED=yes, # and set the options below for your system IPX_DEVICE=eth0 IPX_FRAME=802.2 # either 802.2, 802.3 or EtherII IPX_INTERNAL_NET=no IPX_NETNUM=001D8022 # your internal network number # routing options IPX_SERVER_ROUTE=no # setup route to external server?
