Hi,

for example following system ->

one box, two eth devices (possibly the same type)

How can I setup that box that it has only one IP and if connection
through one eth card fails (switch on fire) it activates
second eth card (very probably on some other switch) with same
ifconfig parameters as the first one (ofcourse MAC is different) ?

Bonding (trunking or whatever) is not the desired solution.

I already tried with some scripts ifup/downing ethX and fiddling
with awk & nameif & modules.conf but I wonder is there any better solution ?

Even commercial ?
