I really doubt that. I'm using a single cross over cable connected to another 
machine with a RTL8029 NIC.

I hope, you're able to reproduce something, but I really doubt that. :/

It recovers properly within about one minute, so it's not that big a problem.

Hmm...it happens again. ;) I don't see any negative effect at all (except the 
connections timing out).
