You do not get a complete DOS system in which you can switch between different programs. E.g. Fixed Disk Organizer does not work. It is nor "for work" indeed. Still, dosbox is an excellent program. It even runs those amazing "demo scene" programs from the early 90's, like "Amnesia" (still available from e.g. http://www.mindcandydvd.com/demos). For games, dosbox is fine. And of course it is portable.
