You 'keep up the magic in front of the frogs' by remembering such apparently innocuous stuff. I assume its equally applicable to the sata power cabling, but relative small numbers of those that I have observed actually use a wire of that specific color. In this case, and despite the moderators comments to the contrary, it IS information that can be applied to good use by a wide number of users. That fact that it is not *buntu specific isn't worth invoking some list rule. But hardware store? That doesn't sound like the sort of store I would go shopping in for replacement Sata cables. In my searching, I've even found cables with metal clips that latch into the socket, another huge improvement IMNSHO. I think it comes with the latest Sata standard, at least I hope it does.
