Instead of doing numbers, better just to list available descriptors,
e.g.

...("... %s scl\n", rinfo->sda_gpiod ? "sda,");

No need to explain that scl doesn't need any check here.

And I'm not sure why do you need adap->name here. Can you show an
example of output from your test platform?
