In the meantime I have been able to get a PC for testing the card and with 2.6.19.1 plus your patch dmesg says: saa7146: found saa7146 @ mem e0856000 (revision 1, irq 9) (0x1894,0x002c). saa7146 (0): dma buffer size 192512 DVB: registering new adapter (Satelco Easywatch DVB-C). 8139cp: 10/100 PCI Ethernet driver v1.3 (Mar 22, 2004) adapter failed MAC signature check encoded MAC from EEPROM was ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:f f:ff:ff input: PC Speaker as /class/input/input1 Real Time Clock Driver v1.12ac KNC1-0: MAC addr = 00:09:d6:6d:6f:3f parport: PnPBIOS parport detected. parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,EPP,ECP,DMA] DVB: registering frontend 0 (Philips TDA10021 DVB-C)... budget-av: ci interface initialised. Does the "MAC addr" information come from the DVB-driver? The "KNC1-0" at the beginning seems to indicate that and the given "MAC addr" is not the one of my Ethernet card... What is the meaning of that value? Now I have tried to get any channels tuned in which has been a problem. For DVB-T, channel information is widely available but I have found no channel info to feed into kaffeine or dvbscan for my cable provider, NetCologne. Google pointed me to a channels.conf from 2003 under http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=4662&threadview=1&hilight=&hilightuser=0, but that does not help: a) NetCologne has changed their channel layout since then b) I have tried to use this channels.conf with xine, but on the attempt to tune in a station, xine simply hangs. Can you see from the above dmesg output whether the card acutally works, as I currently do not know whether I have a driver or a configuration problem. All the information about tuning in the linuxtv.org wiki assumes that I already have some channel information file, which I unfortunately do not have. Is there a way to do a full scan over all channels?
