Hi Joachim,

Maybe kernel switching won't help:
maybe some of the problems are in the Mantis driver.

I'd suggest you to use a latest version of dvb-apps:

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Dvbtools
dvb-apps tools on www.linuxtv.org worked for me well.

First I experimented with czap and a channels.conf from my TV channel provider.
After debugging and fixing I was able to lock into a channel with it.
See http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/First_steps_with_a_DVB_card

Then I was able to see a good picture.

Then I was able to do scanning with scan.

Regards,
Marko

Hi Marko and everyone!

Thanks for the tip, but I've already tried that without success :-(

Perhaps, I should update my kernel (although I can not se any reason sine I don't use dvb from kernel). I'm currently running 2.6.17-gentoo-r8. Does the ivtv stuff make any diference?

Hi Joachim,

With nquite and with cu1216 frontend
there might be similar bugs.
I had first a "no frontend" problem with mantis:

dmesg | grep -i mantis
"mantis: Unknown symbol cu1216_attach"

This cu1216_attach symbol problem was the
root of that problem.

I fixed it by copying frontend module file cu1216.ko by hand like this:

My kernel:
#uname -r
2.6.18-1.2798.fc6

So the correct path is /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2798.fc6:

#cd mantis-xxx
#make
#cp v4l/cu1216.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2798.fc6/kernel/drivers/media/dvb/mantis/
#make install
#reboot

After reboot, the frontend might be found.

Hi!

I've been playing around with the above driver. Not sure I've got the
latest one though :-(

I'm using a VP-3030 card and Mantis loads nquite nice giving me demux and
stuff. Problem is I don't get a frontend for it and the driver complains
about no frontend available.

Very best regards,
Joachim Holst
