Something I just realised with the firmware loader is that you cannot
have /lib/firmware as a symlink, because for whatever reason it does not
follow it when looking for firmware.
(I had /lib/firmware symlinked to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware for a long
time and could never figure out why firmware did not load properly)
Recreating /lib/firmware as a proper directory with all the files in it
fixed it for me.

The light on the device is off.
I have downloaded the firmware and put it to /lib/firmware,
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware. Some ls outputs:
