O.K.  I assume my post got through about it mostly working when I plug 
it in properly.  

I have 2.6.17-2mdv.  I know how to get, compile and run stuff from 
kernel.org (current 2.6.17.12, pre-patch 2.6.18-rc6, snapshot 
2.6.18-rc6-git2).  

http://linuxtv.org/downloads seems to be out of date.  

http://linuxtv.org/repo is probably where you want me to go.  

I'll muck around with it and see what I can make happen.
