i had two initial problems with 2.6.18-rc5 drivers:

1. initial problem was due to the DvICO card not being recognized correctly.
however, since then i found out what the issue was; something had put
"options cx88xx card=21" into /etc/modprobe.conf which caused my card to be
incorrectly identified (it is actually card #15 & is autodetected correctly
without any card= override).

2. analog bt848 card (used for ZoneMinder) would be getting overflow errors
& would be unreliable, eventually failing. errors such as:
	bttv2: OCERR @ 3dcc5000,bits: OFLOW FDSR OCERR*
bttv2: OCERR @ 3dcc5000,bits: HSYNC OFLOW FDSR OCERR*

i since ascertained that the HDD used for ZM recordings was operating in PIO
& not UDMA mode. quite likely that any large amount of movement out in the
front yard (and hence recording activity) would trigger overruns.

my other reason for tip-of-tree was to start reverse-engineering SAA7162E &
i figured tip-of-tree was a better place to start from.
having said that, only Richard has that card at the moment

i will check with 2.6.18-rc5 drivers now.

Richard has a slightly different DvICO card - the 2x T-Plus models, whereas
i have the DviCO T-1 model (+ 2 other DVB + analog).

cheers,
