In my experience with CAMs I've seen two approches to updating cam
firmware:
1) embedd firmware in a transport stream
2) use a special smart card (a so called loader card) and a smartcard
programmer

If your cam vendor uses approach 1 there are two possibilities, either
the cam vendor pays for bandwidth on some satellite in which case you
need to direct your dish at that satellite and tune to the correct
transponder, or your cam vendor provides a transport stream for download
which you need to feed into a modulator connected to your dvb card.

if your cam vendor uses a loader card I'm sure the steps needed are
explained along with the firmware download and/or the loader card.
