It isn't visible to me and to many others what happens on irc. Using irc
is fine, but I'd like there to be a comprehensible exchange of arguments
on the mailing list.

What I saw was that part of my comments were ignored, but OTOH
there was a steady trickle of changes without sufficient
reasoning.
