We _are_ participating in the discussion on IRC - MA is posting to the mailing 
list as well so those not using IRC can take part as well. 

MA is doing this because he is one of the main developers behind the STB0899 
demod and therefore the S2 API. I don't see how he can hope to suppport S2 
without changing the API in some way.

As far as I am concerned, I'm quite happy with how the new API is evolving. 

There are likely some rough edges still, but those will be fixed during the 
implementation of the S2 driver since it will be the first to actually _use_ 
the API.
