Twinhan DVB-T problems

Hi, I'm trying to setup a tv box for a friend. Installed Ubuntu 5.10
which seems to load all the correct modules for his Twinhan DVB pci
card, it creates /dev/dvb/adapter0/ ok with the frontend0 etc. inside.
When I try and use the Scan program it says it can't access frontend0
even though it is there and has the approriate access rights.

Any ideas where to start?
