Doing so raises the bar substatially for dvb apps, and I wouldn't be surprised if they just ignore DVB-S2 claiming not enough kernels support it, and not enough people have the cards, rather than needing to change all their code to support a user-space library (assuming I understand what is being proposed)
I think you misunderstood. The idea is to provide a consistent interface. With the current API/V4 you still have the same issues. The idea is to support the hardware features with the library, rather than in kernel for the frontends.
And having it in user space does really help too. Many things which are difficult to be implemented in kernel is not difficult in user space.
Instead, why not patch in the support we need, and work on a grand consistant plan for the v4 API, which will give user apps a clean place to do restructuring?
This will again need some changes at app level. :-) So why not do it in a much better way ? Manu _______________________________________________ linux-dvb@xxxxxxxxxxx http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linux-dvb
